our story
Born from the sacrifice of one, built to change the lives of thousands.
From Isolation to Connection
Many Veterans arrive at CAL feeling alone, uncertain, and disconnected from the structure they once thrived in. They find a community that sees them, believes in them, and walks beside them every step of the way. This isn’t just a program—it’s a return to a life of meaning, structure, and purpose.
“Shake off any dust that may accumulate from stagnation of purpose.””

A Promise Becomes a Mission
A Gold Star sister starts in her basement, determined to honor her brother, Army Cpl. Christopher Coffland, who was killed in action in Afghanistan. Guided by Chris’s belief that fitness unlocks human potential—mentally, physically, and emotionally—Catch A Lift Fund is born with a mission to restore purpose to combat-injured Veterans, one life at a time.

Our Program Takes Shape
What began one Veteran at a time becomes a structured national program rooted in one-on-one coaching, personalized fitness plans, nutritional guidance, and mental wellness support. CAL becomes more than a grant—it becomes a lifestyle transformation supported by a community of Veterans, for Veterans.

Resilience Through Crisis
In the face of a global pandemic, when isolation threatened to undo progress and connection, CAL stood firm. While the world shut down, our team picked up the phone, calling thousands of Veterans, one by one, to make sure they were seen, heard, and never forgotten. The mission didn’t pause. It pressed on. Because for our Veterans, staying connected wasn’t optional—it was life-saving.

Purpose Forward
More than 15,000 veterans and caregivers are in our community, and growing. CAL has become a nationwide movement, with the future bringing new regional cohorts, a Veteran-focused wellness app, and civilian pathways to help sustain the mission. The promise made in 2010 lives on—stronger, more impactful than ever, and fully committed to changing bodies, healing minds, and saving lives.

Mindfulness, confidence, health. Mind, body and soul. I channel my energy from binge drinking to getting back into the shape I once loved and was proud of. Still a work in progress, but one day at a time.
CAL has really helped me to persevere, I have had and continue to have some setbacks but I have kept a positive mindset and a can't quit attitude.
